Game Change Rules

Free Change Period

Once the preliminary schedule is posted, teams will have a 10-14 day "free change period" to make adjustments. Use this time to fix and scheduling issues by submitting a Game Change Form from your team page on the YSSL website.

This is the window to catch and correct mistakes before the season starts.

In-Season Game Change Policy

Once the free change period ends, each team is allowed two free game changes per season.

Exceptions (Do Not Count Towards the Limit):

1.   Field-only changes (ex. same time and date, different field).
2.   Weather-related changes - only if your club uses the Rainout button to cancel the game.

Game Change Fees

A $75 fee (Paid through PayPal) will apply if:

1.   You request more than two game changes during the season.

2.   You submit a game change fewer than 5 days before the game or the proposed reschedule date (whichever clomes first).

Requesting a Fee Waiver

If you are charged a fee but you believe it shouldn't apply, click the link at the bottom of the fee page to request the fee waiver. Include your reason.

   -   If approved, the change will go through without payment.

   -   If denied, the fee must be paid when the chnage is entered again before it will be processed.

Last-Minute Game Cancellations (Less than 24 hours)

The league does not allow game changes within 24 hours of kickoff.

Example: If it's Friday at 3:00 PM and your game is Saturday at 10:00 AM, and your team cannot play - follow the steps below:

What to Do:

   -   Call and email the opposing Head Coach and Team Contact with the game number and the reason the game will not be played.

    -   If you are the Home team, contact your assignor immediately (by phone, email, or text). Provide:

           -   The game number

           -   Which team is forfeiting

           -   The reason the game will not be played

   -   If you are the Away team, remind the Home team to notify the assignor.

The assignor will cancel the referee and notify the league.

The game will be marked as a forfeit and will not be rescheduled.

General Guidelines & Reminders

   -   The schedule should remain as stable as possible. Last-minute changes affect more than just teams - they impact referees, assignors, coaches, and families.

Game Change Process:
1.   Use the game change form on your team's page - do not email the league or your assignor.

2.   The team requesting the change (not automatically the Home team) must contact the opposing team first and agree on the new date/time/location before submitting the request.

3.   All game change requests must be submitted online by:

   -   End of Week 6 (Fall)

   -   End of Week 5 (Spring).

   -   Note: You may still reschedule games beyond these weeks, but requests made after these deadlines a $75 late fee applies.

4.   You must include a reschedule date - requests that list "TBD" will not be accepted.

   -   If the two teams need more time to agree on a new date, you may temporarily move the game to the last day of the calendar year (Ex. 12/31/25).

   -   Important: This will require two separate changes, one to move to the game to 12/31/25, and another to move it again once a valid reschedule date is confirmed.

5.   All games must be completed by the LAST DAY OF THE SEASON.

   -   Games not played will remain a "game not played" with no points awarded.

6.   Stuck on rescheduling?

   -   If you're not getting a response or can't agree on a date, contact the League Mediator immediately.

   -   Do not wait - late requests will still be charged.
